The true discovery lies not in seeking new landscapes,
but in seeing with different eyes
Marcel Proust
“How things get together”
Starting point concerning my work is the sensory perception.
Daily astonishment and things I experience around inspire me, if not force, me to report small and bigger occurrences.
While I walk I observe, collect materials, objects and sounds, draw, translate and play with their meanings
This alernately produces concrete or more associative images, photo′s or concepts for monumental work
Inspired by the shapes, colors, textures, spatial experiences of the envirenment, I go to my studio.
There, fresh sightenings mingle with remembered remains.
These eventually leads to new images.
I like to work on paper because of its vulnerabillity and its strengh at the same time.
The paintings are about finding a good balance in shapes and colours.
As cameraman Vittorio Storaro aptly put it: “Every state of mind has its own color”.
Tension is created by playing with transparancy.
a right degree of imperfection finishes it off.
Titles arise afterwords or while working.
